Different things are viewed very differently at different times of day. In the morning, most things look bright and almost glowing. Around noon, most things look the way we think of them as always looking. At night, they look dark and almost dreary. Colour and perception all depend on lighting and time of day. These can make paintings or other artworks look very realistic if it is replicated properly. Claude Monet was very interested in this and painted a series of paintings of haystacks at different times.
