Piet Mondrian

Piet Mondrian was a Dutch painter who focused on Neo-Plasticism, which he created. Neo-Plasticism was characterized by a white ground with horizontal and vertical black lines and the three primary colours. He was born March 7th, 1872 and died February 1st, 1944. His early works were very much like most Dutch Impressionists and consisted of windmills, fields and rivers. He moved to Paris in 1911 and changed the spelling of his last name from Mondriaan to Mondrian, in order to emphasize the fact that he had left the Netherlands. This wasn't the only thing to change during the period. His style changed and consisted of geometrical figures and interlocking planes, much like Cubism. In 1917, he created the Neo-Plasticism style. (1872-03-07) and he died     ..Aastyust
