Tape Sculpture

Another artist and myself decided to create a tape sculpture for an art project. We decided on making a sculpture of a man falling into an opening in the floor. I volunteered as the model for the sculpture and over 2 or 3 weeks of on and off work, it was finished. We created it piece by piece and after each piece was done, we would attach it to the other pieces with packing tape. We stuffed the entire sculpture with shredded paper and clothed it in some of my old clothes. It was fairly easy to realize just how much the tape sculptures shrink after being cut off, we took some pictures of myself (the model) standing beside the sculpture. It looked fairly realistic so we decided to cover the entire sculpture in masking tape, to give it a different look and texture.
