Venetian Masks

Venetian Masks are masks that originated in Venice, Italy. They are typically worn during the Carnevale and are meant to disquise the wearer's identity and social status, thus allowing them to get away with things that they would not regularly get away with. They are usually ornately designed, with gold and silver or other bright colours and are decorated in the very complex Baroque style. There are several types of masks, but the most commonly known types are the full face masks such as the "Bauta" or the eye masks such as the "Columbina".
